Apples are good for health.
The age old maxim, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” was a polite way of saying that this would help to prevent constipation since it was believed that the juice of a raw apple aided the fermentation of undigested foods.
Although we might query such a sweeping statement in the highly advanced modern times, none can deny that the apples are good for health. Some people have modified this statement and suggested that ‘it keeps the dentist more than the doctor away’.According to the dentists biting on a crisp crumbly apple is an effective way of removing food particles from between the teeth.Eating an apple after meals and cleaning them in the night and morning are the best formula for keeping the teeth healthy
The apples contain vitamin A and C.They are rich in cellulose and carbohydrates. They also contain some minerals. The presense of these food sources lend some weight to the old adage.
There are 25 species of apple trees belonging to the family Rosaceae. When ripe they are usually red, yellow or green. The apples grow in large quantities in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir in india. It grows in both the hemispheres. Since the apple trees need some period pf relatively cold weather, they cannot be grown in most topical areas.
The scientists believe that the apple originated thousands of years ago in Turkey as the fruit of a wild roselike shrub.Since then humans developed that wild plant into many kinds of apple trees we know today.
