Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

A Hollywood legend is gone, as Elizabeth Taylor has died. Here, a look back.

Although Elizabeth Taylor first first appeared on screen at the age of nine, she shot to superstar status at the age of 12 in 1944's National Velvet. Through good times and bad, this violet-eyed beauty's been in the spotlight, making her one of cinema's first lifelong celebrities.

Taylor filmed the bulk of her most successful movies in the 1950s and 1960s, but she is also a longtime AIDS activist, mother, grandmother, and silver screen icon. A winner of two Oscars, the oft-married Taylor was the first actress to be paid one million dollars for a film (1963's Cleopatra), and her personal style has inspired generations of designers.

Taylor suffered bouts of poor health throughout her life, but she always seemed to defy the odds. "Success is a great deodorant," she said. "It takes away all your past smells." Speaking of smells: We can also credit Elizabeth Taylor with creating the first bestselling celebrity perfume of the modern age, the infamous White Diamonds. Her perfumes are still going strong, too, marketed under the Elizabeth Arden brand.

Get the Bod: Taylor Swift

Next up in our get the bod Grammys edition is country-pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. After hearing the news that she could possibly take home eight Grammys this year, Swift told the Associated Press that she "started freaking out and jumping up and down." If past red carpet moments are any indication, I'm expecting nothing less than breathtaking from her at this year's Grammys.

At a svelte 5'11" and only 19-years-old, Swift has youth and an active metabolism working in her favor. It's been rumored that Swift has followed a raw food diet in the past but she tends to keep pretty quiet on what she eats, wanting the public to focus on her music instead. Swift was recently seen having dinner at Beinhana where she enjoyed a dinner date with Twilight star, Taylor Lautner.

If you'd like to know Swift's workout regimen, read more.

Swift's been a little more forthcoming about her workout routine, telling Allure that she definitely trains and works at staying in shape to remain in top shape, especially when performing.

“Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that. I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can get skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that if you’re going to see a show.”

When it comes to building up her endurance, Swift is all about cardio — specifically running. She loves running outdoors but hits the treadmill if she can't make time for an outside session. The young country crooner has been known to hit the treadmill before a performance to calm down pre-show jitters. It sounds like even at her young age, Swift has a great outlook on her health!
